The technology helps individuals to maintain their independence and gives peace of mind to those involved in their care and support. Examples of the technology we have are pendant alarms, automatic pill dispensers, and sensors placed in your home to detect if you have fallen or to recognise risks such as smoke, floods, or gas-leaks. In this day and age of technology people can feel safe in their home without having to move or putting a burden on family and friends to check on them or moving around with them as they usually have their own lives to get on with.
Regardless of whom you are, what you are used to doing or your health conditions we can tailor make solutions to enable you to stay safe in your own home for as long possible. There are two categories of Tele-Care solutions, solutions for your home and solutions for your health.
Your home will be linked to a monitoring centre that can respond to you at the press of a button. The monitoring centre if fully accredited by Tele-Care Service Authority, fully staffed by trained operators and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The operators can arrange for doctor or emergency services to your home as well as summon our Community Response Team who is on duty 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

Solutions and Sensors
If the sensors don’t detect movement for a long period of time, they’ll trigger an alarm call to our monitoring centre. The call will bring in help in case you’ve fallen over or are feeling unwell and need assistance.
Bed or chair occupancy sensor
The Bed Occupancy Sensor is a solution for the protection of people who get up from their beds during the night and fail to return after a specified period of time has elapsed. An extend switch can also be connected to enable the user to easily extend the period of time before an alarm is raised e.g. when getting up at night to make a cup of tea. The sensor can also detect if clients have failed to go to bed at night or have not got up in the morning thus allowing carers to ascertain the cause. These are placed on a mattress or a chair and our monitoring centre receives an alert if you’ve got up and not returned within an agreed period of time. It can also be programmed to switch lights on and off, which can be a very important aid when getting in and out of bed.
Bogus caller button
This panic button can help to reduce anxiety and can be placed next to the front door or any other areas within the house. When pressed, the operator can listen to the situation and intervene when necessary and provide assistance if required.
Carbon monoxide monitors
Sensors will detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, which can be created by gas, oil and coal fires, as well as boilers and water heaters.
The sensors can detect epileptic seizures in bed. It measures vital signs such as heart rate and breathing patterns, and when a seizure is detected an alarm call is automatically sent to your carer and to our monitoring centre.
A fall is often the main reason why people who are older are forced to give up their homes and move into sheltered accommodation. A fall detector can help keep you independent in your own home by triggering an alarm if the sensor detects impact when you are not in a vertical position.
Wireless Fire or smoke sensors
As with a standard smoke detector, the wireless smoke detector senses smoke in your home and raises an instant alarm. Unlike conventional detectors though, this wireless device raise the alarm through your lifeline unit to the monitoring centre, alerting the operator =of potential fires. Tele- heath Care smoke alarms sound automatically when they detect smoke but they don’t just sound an alarm, they trigger a call to our the monitoring centre and if possible the operator will try to speak to you first to see what the problem is before calling the fire brigade as well as summon the community response team.
The flood detector provides an early warning of flood situations, such as taps being left on, raising an immediate response from the monitoring centre via the lifeline unit. Sensors will trigger to give early warnings of overflows and leaks which may become hazardous, or taps that may not have been turned off and will alert our monitoring centre. The flood detector has three sensors. When two of the sensors make contact with water it provides two types of alarm – the first is a local audible alarm and the second sends a signal to a Lifeline home unit or other telecare enabled systems. The lifeline home unit automatically raises a call to the monitoring centre where the operator can identify what type of detector has initiated the call, allowing the most appropriate and immediate action to be taken. A blocked sink, toilet, or taps being left on unattended could quickly lead to a flood causing damage to your home with possible dangerous consequences. The after effects of a flood could not only result in extensive repair costs and increased insurance premium, but also long-term damage to health, particularly in winter.
Gas shut off valves will be triggered by a gas detector sensor connected to your telecare box and will cut off the gas supply. The shut-off valves can only be fitted by a registered Corgi fitter.
A thin, discreet sensor pad placed between the bedding and mattress raises an audible alarm and sends an emergency call to our monitoring centre for assistance. Medication management – a pre-programmed unit that will prompt you to take your medication and will dispense tablets when they are due to be taken. If tablets aren’t taken in the pre-set time, our monitoring centre will be alerted and a carer, friend or relative will be contacted to remind you about the missed medication.
Property exit sensors
The property exit sensor provides real time alerts when a client has walks out of their door and not returned, so that carers can ensure their welfare. The sensor can also provide and alert when a client has left an external door open for a specified period of time, so that action can be taken to ensure that it is closed quickly and the building is secured. It can be linked to external lighting to provide added protection. These sensors can be placed above the exit doors and will be activated if they detect when someone leaves the property but doesn’t return in the pre-set time period. Helpful if you’re disorientated or confused when you leave home, or if you go out at an inappropriate time during the day or night.
The temperature sensor will detect if the home is too hot or too cold and will alert our monitoring centre who’ll make contact with you to establish the problem. GPS sensor – these are particularly useful for someone with dementia. If they wander away from home, the sensor makes finding them and making sure they’re safe and well much quicker, lessening anxiety to family and friends and reducing costs to the emergency services.
